The Israeli Security Cabinet convened for the first time in two and a half years in order to discuss the return of the bodies of fallen soldier Oren Shaul and Hadar Goldin as well as the fate of other Israeli citizens being held by Hamas.

The Israeli Security Cabinet ruled unanimously on the issue and declared a fixed policy for the treatment of the bodies of Hamas terrorists who were eliminated while waging terror attacks. According to the decision, the terrorist bodies are not to be returned to their families but simply buried.

In recent weeks, progress has been registered in the Israeli Committee on Missing Persons, which held several meetings with the Goldin and Shaul families. The ministers reported on the progress to the families.

  1. One wonders how the Israeli Security Cabinet (or for that matter the Israeli Cabinet, or the People of the state of Israel and then especially the families of the Israeli soldiers and or civilians) think they will retrieve the bodies of Israeli soldiers which are in possession of for instance Hamas?

Does Israel think that Hamas or any other group that holds corpses of Israeli soldiers will be returning any of the remains when dead members of for instance Hamas are not returned?

Hardening its position towards returning the remains of soldiers or fighters (referred to by Israel as terrorists but were in fact freedom fighters for the cause of fighting an occupation force, i.e. the IDF) to Hamas will make it difficult for the Hamas organization to return the remains of Israeli soldiers, were not returning the remains of the so-called terrorists is in fact a breach and violation of the agreed to rules on law of war by the state of Isreal, making a new the state of Israel guilty of a war crime!

I think that when Israel wants the remains of its soldiers back, Israel must acknowledge that the remains of the freedom fighters (aka terrorists) must be returned to their families also, as is prescribed in the rules relevant!

Israel has declared to be at war with Hamas and other organizations fighting the occupation by the state of Israel, and thus has declared to be engaged in a situation were the law of warfare is valid, and thus the state of Israel must adhere to the rules of war as described!

Using, better said, abusing the corpses of dead people is a crime against humanity by the state of Israel, as well as by Hamas, and both parties must without any delay come to an agreement wereby the remains of fighters shall be returned as soon as possible!

By not adhering to the international rule of law, the state of Israel commits a war-crime, and is to be held accountable and responsible for all possible consequences!
